CairnGorm Highland Fling Ceilidh Nights

If you’re looking for things to do in Scotland and in particular, a family night out, then it won’t get much better than one of our traditional Scottish ceilidh nights at CairnGorm Mountain.

Running every Thursday evening from July until the end of August, the CairnGorm Highland Fling ceilidh nights bring together the best about traditional Gaelic social gatherings. They typically involve playing folk music and country dancing.

Dancing typically involves a pair of couples facing each other in a square or rectangular formation and exchanging positions and partners with the facing couples, all in time with the music. Step dancing is another genre performed at ceilidhs; while around half the dances are couples dances performed in a ring.

The ceilidh nights in Aviemore are surely the best in the Scottish Highlands, if not the whole of Scotland. You ride the train up to Ptarmigan Restaurant, which is the highest in the UK, enjoy a traditional three-course Highland buffet consisting of foods such as venison and haggis and then relish in the evening entertainment. There’s no need to worry if you haven’t done the steps before either, as the band will be glad to talk you through the dances.
So if you’re interested in eating out and enjoying a traditional ceilidh night in the Cairngorms National Park, what do you need to do?

The safest bet is to book early as the CairnGorm Ceilidhs are always popular. You can book online or call 01479 861 341 during office hours. Don’t forget to sign up for the weekly e-news too, so you get regular information on the latest events.
