Northern Corries Walk

Opportunities like this don’t come along too often – but now you have the chance to enjoy something truly spectacular by walking one of the most famous mountain areas in the Scottish Highlands.

The Northern Corries Walk  takes place every Wednesday  (weather permitting) from May through until the end of October. The walk starts at 10.30am and finishes around 3.30pm. Please arrive 30 mins before your scheduled walk is due to commence and report to the ticket office located in the Base Station. It is at the discretion of the Guide when he or she meets you to determine whether you have suitable footwear and clothing. Please ensure you come fully prepared to avoid disappointment. (Walking boots and trail shoes are suitable footwear. Wellies, sandals, and even gym shoes in certain weather conditions are not deemed suitable footwear).

Known as The Northern Corries Walk, you’ll be hiking 2,000ft above sea level in groups of 10 with experts not only ensuring that you’re safe, but also offering their knowledge of Cairn Gorm Mountain, as well as the National Park and the wider area.  This isn’t just one of the most beautiful places in Scotland – it’s one of the most breathtaking areas in the world.

Small groups of up to 10 visitors  per group can enjoy a 4-5 hour guided walk on a mountain trail path in the heart of the Cairngorms National Park.  This is an excellent walk for those with experience of low level walking who would like to try some higher level routes in the company of a local guide. Visitors who are booked onto the Northern Corries Walk will be accompanied by a guide for the duration of the walk and we ask that you remain with your guide for the duration of the walk.  The Cairngorms Massif is Britain’s largest nature  reserve and is protected under various UK and European Law.

We recognise that children are all different and as a guide we suggest the Northern Corries Walk is suitable for  children aged  at least eight years old who are used to walking for 4-5 hours at a time. Children must be accompanied by a parent or guardian. Dogs are welcome on this walk but must be kept on a lead at all times.

Visitor Management

Out with the skiing months it is not possible to use the mountain railway as a quick means of access to the high mountain plateau. The mountain railway operates a visitor management plan to help protect the mountain environment and visitors are asked to play their part in safeguarding this special place for future generations by observing the management arrangements. Click here for full details of the Visitor Management arrangements.
