Highest Sport Relief Mile in the Country
CairnGorm Mountain is raising money for Sport Relief. The snowsports centre will have a sport relief one-mile run set up for skiers and boarders on Sunday 21st March at CairnGorm Mountain - suitable for all standards. The course start point will be located at the top of the Zig Zags and marked by a banner there. It will take participants all the way down a green run to the Day Lodge, where a finishing line will be set up. Donations can be made on the day when skiers and boarders register or directly through the page which has been set up on the Sport Relief web-site donation page.
Registration for the event will take place in the Ptarmigan Restaurant from 9am to 10.30am, the course which is timed will be open from 11am to 3pm and certificates will be available for Collection from the Ranger Base next to the Base Station between 4pm and 5pm. Participants will have to have a valid ski ticket in order to take part.
CairnGorm Mountain Chief Executive Ian Whitaker commented:
“Following the popularity of our recent kilted skiing descent we wanted to give our snowsports customers the chance to enjoy their favourite sport and raise money for Sport Relief at the same time. We have had very positive feedback following the kilted skiing and it is clear that our regular customers as well as those who only ski here occasionally are enthusiastic about our organizing these kinds of events, particularly when there is a worthy cause to support.”
