Whether you want soup, a snack, a delicious Highland casserole or traditional Haggis; the highest restaurant in the UK, the Ptarmigan Restaurant is keen to whet your appetite.
Located at the Top Station at CairnGorm Mountain, the Ptarmigan Restaurant is a hugely popular tourist attraction in Aviemore as it is the highest restaurant in the UK. It sits 1,097m above sea level with spectacular views across Scotland.
While the setting is truly picturesque with brilliant views not only of the area but also of the ever changing mountain weather, the Ptarmigan Restaurant is a great place to relax and enjoy a lunch or drink.
Most of the food served at the Ptarmigan Restaurant is sourced from local ingredients and the menu is wide ranging. Typically it will also include homemade soups and baked scones, cappuccinos and the famous CairnGorm Hot Chocolate Mountain. It’s also a great place to sample some of the local ales and Speyside malt. A children’s menu is available too.
In winter, The Ptarmigan Restaurant has its own sledge park close by, which is great fun for those who aren’t quite brave enough to don the skis. However, for a truly memorable visit, why not head to the Ptarmigan Restaurant during the summer months and take part in the ceilidh nights? They run every Thursday from July to the end of August and feature the best in good old fashioned Scottish hospitality with ceilidh music and dancing as well as a three-course Highland Buffet that includes delicacies such as venison and haggis.
Opening times vary depending on the time of year. Typically in the winter, the Ptarmigan Restaurant is open from 9:00am-4:20pm and in the summer from 10.20am-4.30pm.
Let’s be honest, visiting the Ptarmigan Restaurant is not just something to do – it’s something to boast about. How many people can say they have eaten at the highest restaurant in the UK?
