Cairngorm Nature BIG Weekend

Schools Art competition to be celebrated in the Ptarmigan Restaurant!

Cairngorm Mountain are pleased to be working closely with Cairngorm Nature BIG Weekend, which this year is on 12/13 May.

The Cairngorms Nature BIG Weekend is a celebration of the fantastic natural heritage of the Cairngorms National Park that takes place every year in May. With over 60 activities taking place across the Cairngorms National Park there is something for everyone, from families to the more seasoned nature lover.

CairnGorm Mountain will be supporting two of the events – the Final of the Schools Art competition on 12th May and a special Mountain Birds Guided Walk (snow levels permitting!) on 13th May.

Schools Art Competition

“From nursery to high school, kids all over the Park will take part in the annual BIG Weekend Art Competition, making their own works of art to showcase what they love most about the Mountains of the Cairngorms., we will be celebrating their works of art at the top of the funicular railway.

Supported by local rangers, artists and wildlife experts and now in its 5th year, the Art Competition sits at the very heart of the BIG Weekend and showcases what it is really all about; connecting people with our amazing nature and experiencing it first-hand.

On Saturday 12th May our local artists and their families will be rewarded with a trip up to the top of one of Scotland’s highest Munro’s in the Cairngorms Funicular, to spend an afternoon in the Ptarmigan with juice, cake, prize giving and craft making.

Make sure your kids don’t miss out on this fantastic day by getting their Mountain inspired artworks to the local rangers on Friday 20th April.”
