Please note, the Funicular Railway will be closed for essential maintenance (with the Top Station facilities unavailable for walkers) until the 4th July 2018. During this period, the Day Lodge, Storehouse & Outfitters will still be open and we will be offering a selection of alternative guided walks on the lower slopes.

The Cairngorms National Park is an excellent outdoor classroom and can be studied across the curriculum from biology and geography to art, history and even music. A variety of educational resources have already been produced to support outdoor learning in the Cairngorms National Park with outdoor learning seen as a key approach to delivering the Curriculum for Excellence.

Pupils and students of all ages can participate in a wide range of curriculum based activities providing many learning outcomes:

  • Tailored presentations on environmental and other topics.
  • Practical work in the natural outdoor environment of the hill.
  • Discover the camera obscura in the the mountain garden.
  • Journey on the funicular railway to visit the viewing terrace and interpretive mountain exhibition.
