CairnGorm Mountain is home to Scotland’s only funicular railway. This is a unique visitor experience that allows people of all abilities to reach the Top Station where the Ptarmigan Restaurant is located with panoramic views from over 3,500ft. There is also a viewing terrace, exhibition, shop and the highest post box in the British isles.
The funicular train runs daily – the first train leaves at 10:00am and the last train up is 4:00pm. They run every 20 minutes. The last train down from the Top Station is currently at 4.30pm, but can change.
PLEASE NOTE: In order to protect the plateau, when we are not open for snow-sports funicular passengers are NOT permitted to exit the top station building to go onto the mountain unless they are booked on a guided walk. Access to our Mountain Shop, Exhibition, Restaurant/Bar and Viewing Terrace are available all year round.
Due to changing demand for our guided activities, we will be amending our offering for 2018. We will be expanding the number and variations of the guided walks available to meet the increased demand from our visitors, but unfortunately will no longer be offering guided mountain biking.
